Gazebo 0.9.0 on Ubuntu 9.10 Quickstart

Gazebo / player are screwed. I can't get this working. To be continued...

Things seem to be constantly changing as to what works where and how. This guide is accurate as of Jan 20, 2010 with gazebo 0.9.0 on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. Gazebo 0.10.0 has too new deps and is horrible to install.
WORK IN PROGRESS
  1. Add repository with player packages
    add ppa:thjc/ppa to your system's Software Sources.
  2. Install player.
    sudo aptitude install robot-player robot-player-dev robot-player-doc libplayerwkb3-dev python-playerc
  3. Install gazebo deps. The gazebo package in that repo doesn't work.
    sudo aptitude install libfltk1.1-dev libode-dev libois-dev libxml2-dev libtool libglobus-libtool-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libgl1-mesa-glx mesa-common-dev gle-doc libglu1-mesa libglu1-mesa-dev freeglut3 freeglut3-dev freeglut3-dbg libglut3 libglut3-dev glut-doc glutg3-dev
  4. Edit /usr/include/player-3.0/libplayerxdr/playerxdr.h to include libplayerinterface/player.h.

  5. Download gazebo from ntohn, extract, and build.
    cd gazebo-0.9.0
    mkdir build
    cd build
    cmake ../
    make
  6. Create ~/.gazeborc with
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <gazeborc>
      <gazeboPath>/usr/share/gazebo</gazeboPath>
      <ogrePath>/usr/lib64/OGRE</ogrePath>
    </gazeborc>
